cheap, short and sweet

My Teen Vogue arrived two days ago, the September issue! One of my favourite months solely for that reason. I have to be truthful, I was a little disappointed seeing as how much I look forward to this issue, but I did find a fashion gem or two. One of them being an article on Missoni for Target, the new collection! I am so excited because their signature print is now affordable and available to young dreamers like me. You can see the whole collection here. I also found this mish-mash of new fall nail colours on the Polyvore blog, I adore the deep, shimmery tones. Thanks to all those lovelies who have been entering my giveaway. I ran into some fans of my blog the other day, it is such an amazing feeling to meet those people who read my blog and appreciate my sense of style!

The last two days of my life have consisted of TV (preferably the Big Bang Theory or America's Next Top Model), online shopping and hot beverages, as I have had the flu and been bed-ridden for what seems like weeks. My creativity and ability to get up and move have been severely lacking, so please excuse the late post. Anyway, while doing a large amount of nothing I have read almost every book in my small bedroom bookshelf, and I got very interested in the book my Mother brought me back from America, Ps. I made this by Erica Domesek. It is a book written entirely on DIY fashion/jewelry/accessory projects that are easy to make and inspired by high fashion pieces. The project that caught my eye the most was the gold oxfords, which are so easy to make and are very on-trend. They would look so cute with my new lace socks. In silver, too.

spot of op-shopping

Finding something that doesn't stink and looks okay can sometimes be a tricky task while op-shopping or bargain shopping (two dollar stores, discount stores, outlets etc). I must admit when doing just this with lovely blogger Maria yesterday we were unsuccessful in what we actually set out to buy. On the other hand, the things we never thought we needed were actually what we bought. Maria managed to score six videos for three dollars in an op-shop, plus an interesting book about the Cottingley fairies mystery, her new obsession. I bought this cute cream metal beside table for thirty dollars, replacing my metallic-pink-and-butterflies one I had before. None of which we actually intended to buy, but that's the beauty of op-shopping. Things you had forgotten about or never thought you could find appear and outdated items can become worthy of wearing again. So go ahead, restore your wardrobe/room/bookshelf/movie collection with an op-shop find.
