black and white

I have been out and about a fair bit lately, and consequently I have had to put together a few respectable outfits, all turning out based around black and white. Yesterday I hit the op-shops, wearing a cashmere black sweater over my much-loved Peter Pan collar shirt. I paired it with black boots and white socks. I have found, that black and white is great for a simple, go-to outfit rather than trying to pair a printed item with something bright pink. Okay, it's a pretty well-known fact, but putting it to use in my wardrobe has made life easier.
Sticking to the "black and white is classier" rule, I took some photos this morning and put my favourite in black and white. It's not great for every photo, but for close-ups it makes things... simpler. I also did a black and white drawing of Abbey Lee for art, but I was not able to get a good picture of it. What's your black and white craze at the moment?

I've reached one hundred followers! Thanks, lovelies!

woodfordia

If you go for the day you get so tired that the only photos you feel compelled to take are ones of your feet outside a nice Indian lady's massage stall.
Woodford is coming up again. Now normally I would grumble about how tired I get from walking around for the whole day whilst trying to cram in everything the festival has to offer, but no! This time I get to go for a full, blissful week (well maybe not blissful, but fun) while wearing really cool gumboots with little owls on them. What more could anyone want? Except the Cat Empire, which coincidentally are playing there on December 27th! I see a "Woodford Wardrobe" post in my future ...

Fruits- by photographer Shoichi Aoki

My sister and I used to fight constantly over who would get to keep this book, week after week. Another art gallery buy, the glossy pictures, short, sharp sentences and vibrant colour, it was the kind of book you were drawn to from about the ages of about 2-13. But this book is not aimed at any age in particular.

Fruits is a collection of photographs of Japanese street style, complete with small descriptions of every look at the bottom. According to the unique individuals photographed, their ensembles are representing a personal point of fashion, from "fluffy alien" to "harmony and unity". The western clothing that you see everyone except these people wearing has only been mainstream in Japan for about fifty years and considered very conservative. The strange outfits of these people are mostly handmade and most link back to their traditional culture- kimonos in bright colours.

This book makes you laugh occasionally, think often and smile at every page. Definitely worth reading, even if you just want to see the boys with  funny hairstyles.

goodness me

School has started up again and I'm pretty sure my teachers are out to get me by giving me stacks of homework and leaving me no time to blog. I missed a whole macro Monday! How rude. Even worse, for sport we are now doing synchronized swimming. And no, I do not go to an all girls school. At least I will have a good laugh.

What to wear to a exhibition honoring a fashion genius: Bardot dress, Target tights, Miss shop boots, Coach bag.

I wore a daisy ring. It was fun.

Um, just because.

 Sister and Valentino shopping bag,

This makes me froth at the mouth.

On the last day of my savored holidays I went to the Valentino exhibit and it was a brilliant finish to the wonderful two weeks.  Obviously, it was amazing and left me wanting to cry because I am almost absolutely positive that I do not have $80, 000 to spend on an evening gown. It was an inspiration overload and I actually sketched some actual designs for the first time in months. Now I have to get to my sewing machine and make some Valentino-worthy garments.
