an interview inspiration

I am so happy to share with you all my interview with the lovely Natalie from Lucy and the Runaways. She has some great advice, amazing taste and some to-die for outfits!

Why did you initially start your blog?

I was working in fashion buying for at least a year and a half before I realized it was not fulfilling my needs, and I needed a more creative outlet. I was working under another buyer and was never able to express myself and my views. I decided to release all that through my blog Lucy and the Runaways, just for fun. After my first few posts, I felt so much more a part of the fashion community and that I really felt like I was doing something important for myself, so I kept posting more and more.

What are your wardrobe staples?

-A leather jacket of good quality.
-A signature piece of jewellery or accessory. Mine are my two necklaces I wear around my neck everyday.
-A ballerina tulle skirt (for those days you feel you have nothing to wear).

What is your favourite trend at the moment?

I guess this is more of a hair trend (they all tie in together anyways)-  but I love dyed tips that sit about 3/4 down your hairline (think Rumi Neely).

What does fashion mean to you?
 It's the best and most personal creative outlet anyone could ever have. There are so many items out there to choose from, but you ultimately have the choice of what to wear as a base (like a dress, a tee, or pants), and its ultimately your own personal tastes and vision when it comes to picking the accessories and layers and shoes to compliment it. Making your own outfit whole.

Do you have any other hobbies or interests? 
-Photography.
-Drawing and Illustration.
-Listening to Music and attending music festivals/concerts.
-Zumba (yes I enjoy dancing!)

 Do you have any advice for aspiring fashion bloggers?-Never give up, if you want your blog to be successful, it definitely doesn't happen overnight - it can take a year or two to get really noticed.
-Always have good content that leave your readers wanting to come back again and again.
-And always be kind-hearted on your blog. Mean people always get what they deserve (karma).

sunglasses finally

Ladakh army green top, Bardot lace top (you can barely see it, sorry), Finders Keepers shorts, black patent wedges, Dotti sunglasses, DIY floral wreath, Revlon Silver Dollar nail polish, woven bag.

These are just some current items I have been wearing a fair bit and.... my new sunglasses! I had to share it with all my lovely readers as I have been complaining about the lack of sunglasses in my life for so incredibly long. I found the absolute perfect pair at Dotti for only $10! Less than the gelato I bought earlier that day (very expensive gelato, I would not recommend paying that much) for this amazing vintage-y round cats-eye-but-not eyewear. They almost blend in with the hippie-ish vibes I have been channeling lately, the brown woven bag and lace top (that you can hardly see) look great on the beach. I also have a floral henna tattoo up my arm, if you can picture the whole hippie-ish mash-up in your head. Aside from wearing the sunglasses everywhere (the fact that it may be nighttime, dark and cold does not faze me or my eyes) I have been waving my hands around a lot because I'm wearing Chanel nail polish. The closest thing I may have to Karl Lagerfeld (aside from my probably-fake bag) is in a redish pinkish shade and matches with the above outfit almost as well as Revlon Silver Dollar, the happiest and most blinged-out shade of the nail polishes.

I'm a little obsessed, as you should all know, with Rumi Neely from fashiontoast (I've featured her here and here) She has the most amazing style, so simple and she loves boots and knits (remind you of anyone?). So when I came across this polyvore by Hollywood Fashionista on the official polyvore blog, I had to share it with you. I am having yet another rest day today, seeing as yesterday I went for a run (I'm so fit! Kidding...) and fell in a hole, twisting my ankle at a degree that it is not meant to be twisted at. I have a lovely home-done french manicure, I plan to sit and work on my dance-inspired post for when I finally get back on my feet. You should all probably look at Rumi's blog because you need to. End of story. And if you feel like lazing around, go for a run and fall in a hole. It's a great way to enjoy doing nothing.
